Rain gardens are gardens planted in shallow depressions to receive extra rainfall or runoff, usually from a downspout or rain barrel. They help with flood and drought mitigation, and reduce the overall amount of runoff, along with plenty of other benefits, not the least is they can make pollinator habitat.
