Clean Runoff Action Guide

The Clean Runoff Action Guide is a draft document in being developed in cooperation with the Pigeon Lake Watershed Association. The Rain Garden section is provided here as an example of the type of information the guide contains.

This plain language, heavily illustrated guide is intended to provide an overview of practices that can be implemented both on private property and in public spaces. It attempts to strike a balance between answering what, why and how without overwhelming the reader. The Toolbox for Property Owners includes sizing guidance to capture the 90-95th percentile storm, which effectively controls volume on-lot to achieve water quality.

The other sections in the document include:

TOOLBOX FOR PROPERTY OWNERS:

  • Evaluating Your Site
  • Landscaping
  • Green Roofs
  • Rainwater Harvesting
  • Trenches and Soakaways
  • Permeable Pavement
  • Construction

PLANNING AND PUBLIC SPACES:

  • Planning
  • Conveyance
  • Civic Spaces
  • End-of-Pipe

A new draft is anticipated for summer 2018.
