Rain Gardens

Rain gardens are gardening beds that are slightly depressed to give rain a better chance of soaking in instead of running off your lot.
Redirecting your downspout into a rain garden:
- reduces neighbourhood and downstream flooding
- harvests water for plants in the rain garden, mitigating drought
- reduces the amount of sediment, nutrients and other pollutants reaching our water bodies
Rain gardens are a simple measure that can make a world of difference.
The video below shows some local examples and gives the most basic how-to info.
