About the Water Balance Model

ALIDP members receive exclusive access to the award-winning Water Balance Model (WBM). The WBM has evolved and is now powered by QUALHYMO.  It is an on-line decision support and scenario modeling tool for promoting stormwater management and stream health protection through implementation of ‘green’ development practices.

In September 2008, the ALIDP signed an Inter-Provincial Partnership with the British Columbia Inter-Governmental Partnership (BCIGP), which allows ALIDP members to become Full Subscribers to the WBM (the ALIDP transfers the $1,000 fee on behalf of some of our members).

Who Can Access the WBM?

Anyone can test and try out the WBM powered by QUALHYMO at http://www.waterbalance.ca/. Trial Subscribers may use the model for up to 30 days; however, this only provides limited access to the model. To access all aspects of the model and save site analyses you must become a Paid Subscriber through the ALIDP.

ALIDP members whose dues exceed $1,000 will receive full access to the model. This covers the fees charged to the ALIDP for each paid subscriber we enroll into the model. Some organizations and individuals may have neither the financial means to pay for, nor the need to access the WBM. In response to consultations with our stakeholders, the ALIDP offers tiered membership dues.

We want to access the Water Balance Model. Now what?

Once we receive your ALIDP annual membership fee, and confirmation that you would like to access the Water Balance Model powered by QUALHYMO, we will forward your contact info to the BCIGP, who operates the model.  You may then register online at http://www.waterbalance.ca/. Upon receiving your online registration, the BCIGP will activate your account as a Paying Subscriber. The ALIDP will pay the $1,000 annual fee on your behalf.  All employees of member organizations will receive full subscriber access to the WBM.
