Hello LID Workshop Delegates
Thank you for registering for the “Developing Tools to Implement LID Policy” workshop taking place at the Cochrane RancheHouse on Thursday November 27, 2008. We have a full day planned for you. Here you will find background materials and information that will help you get the most out of the workshop.
How do I get there? The workshop is at the Cochrane RancheHouse in Cochrane, AB. Please click here for directions to the RancheHouse. Please consider lowering your environmental impact by carpooling to the event, as parking is limited. Please allow yourselves ample travel time for weather, parking and registration. The program begins at 8:30AM SHARP.
What is the agenda? You can find a detailed agenda here. Please check in and join us for a networking breakfast between 7:30 – 8:30AM. The morning presentations begin at 8:30AM SHARP. The day will wrap up at 4:30PM.
How can I prepare for the workshop? What should I expect?
The morning features a series of introductory presentations on 4 themes:
1) LID Policy
2) Regulatory & Approvals Processes
3) Public Perceptions of LID
4) LID Engineering & Design
During the afternoon, you will breakout into one of the above themes. Our facilitators/presenters will present a case study to workshop and discuss solutions to common LID challenges within that theme. Please consider which theme you would like to participate in prior to arriving on Thursday.
You may also wish to review these other resources to make the most of your day:
1) LID Questionnaire & LID Backgrounder: This was sent to workshop participants who registered before November 13. Please click here to review the questionnaire, and consider how you would have responded. There will be opportunities to discuss this at the workshop. It also includes a valuable backgrounder on LID.
2) Nose Creek Watershed Water Management Plan: The NCWWMP is one of the first of its kind in Alberta and has helped pave the way for many other watershed stewardship groups to begin work on their own water management plans. Some of our presenters will be referring to this document during the presentations. To review the plan, please visit: http://www.nosecreekpartnership.com/ourplan.html .
3) www.alidp.org: To learn more about the ALIDP Society, our board of directors & staff, or to get more information on LID and common LID tools, please snoop around our website.
As you can see, our board, workshop planning committee, and numerous volunteers have planned a terrific event.
The ALIDP gratefully acknowledges the support of our generous sponsors.
